Friday, June 24, 2011 Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo signed and passed the law that allows same-sex marriage in NY. This sparked a very large response to hundreds of engagements over the next few days. Couples celebrated, and proposals were flying. It’s estimated that more that 21,000 gay and lesbian couples would marry within the first three years.
