<p> The growth of romantic vacations as a uniquely Belizean attraction has been highlighted again this week with the airing of The Bachelor reality TV show, and this is a welcome trend for Adventure Romance specialists such as Chaa Creek, the eco resort’s spa manager Bryony Fleming said.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>“Adventure Romance just grew naturally at Chaa Creek, but there has been a definite surge in couples wanting to share exotic experiences over the last few years,” Ms Fleming said.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>The 7th episode of the 16th season of The Bachelor began with Bachelor Ben Flanjik and six female contestants arriving in Belize for a holiday that ended with only four women remaining. The Belizean series included Ben and his dates leaping from a helicopter into the famous Blue Hole on the Belize Great Barrier Reef, diving for lobsters, exploring a Maya temple, and swimming in Shark Alley.  </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>“It was great to see, and although The Bachelor highlighted just a few of Belize’s many attractions it did give a feeling for how incredibly romantic our little country can be. We see couples falling deeper in love all the time at Chaa Creek, and they don’t need to leap out of a helicopter to do it,” Ms Fleming said, “Sometimes just a candlelit dinner, a long soak in a private Jacuzzi surrounded by the tropical gardens after a hilltop couples massage is all it takes to kindle &#8211; or rekindle – the magic.”</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Ms Fleming said that the romantic Belizean adventures of celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon and KISS front man Gene Simmons helped bolster Belize’s romantic side in the public eye.</p>

<p>“I used to think that the growth of adventure romance in at Chaa Creek  was more of a word-of-mouth thing, in that couples would have such an amazing time here, go home and tell their friends, who would come down and have similar wonderful experiences and it kept having a ripple effect.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>“But now were seeing more publicity from celebrities, and events like the Belizean honeymoon of The Bachelorette star DeAnna Pappas and Steven Stagliano last November, which went viral on television and social media as well, resulted in more enquiries from couples about Belizean weddings, honeymoons, second honeymoons and the tailored romance adventure packages that we offer at Chaa Creek,” Ms Fleming said.</p>

<p>Ms Fleming pointed out that Lodge at Chaa Creek has been offering romantic vacation packages for years, as well as Belize wedding packages that include a Maya wedding allowing couples to exchange vows in ancient Maya ceremonial sites set in the Belizean rainforest. Belize honeymoon packages can also have a distinctly Maya flavour or, as with weddings, be part of a Rainforest to Reef all-inclusive package, which combines a tropical rainforest experience with a Caribbean beach holiday on Belize’s seacoast, Ambergris Caye, and the world heritage listed Belize Great Barrier Reef.</p>

<p>“I guess that when you think about it, it’s no surprise that Belize is becoming such a popular destination for lovers,” Ms Fleming said, “With so much natural beauty and a warm, tranquil atmosphere, Belize is pretty much custom made for love.”</p>

<p> The recent civil unrest in Egypt and Syria has travelers concerned whether travel insurance will allow them to cancel their upcoming trip. According to Squaremouth.com, a site for comparing and purchasing travel insurance, most policies will not offer cancellation coverage for a riot or civil unrest. “In this type of situation, the only cancellation coverage available would be a policy with Cancel for Any Reason,” explains Chris Harvey, CEO of Squaremouth. “However, if someone has already begun traveling, some policies will offer protection to evacuate them out of the country.” </p>

<p>“The United States warns U.S. citizens against travel to Syria and recommends that U.S. citizens in Syria depart immediately,” advises the U.S. Department of State. All official U.S. embassy personal and family have left Syria due to the violence and a deteriorating security situation.  </p>

<p>If someone has recently booked a trip and wants the ability to choose whether they travel, Cancel for Any Reason is an upgrade benefit that allows them to cancel their trip without an explanation. Travelers will receive a refund up to 75 percent of the trip cost, however, they must purchase the travel insurance policy within 14-30 days of the initial deposit. </p>

<p>If someone is currently traveling in Egypt or Syria, they should check their travel insurance policy to see if Non-Medical Evacuation coverage is available. “Non-Medical Evacuation is specifically designed for this type of situation and covers the cost of transporting the traveler from a place of danger to a nearby place of safety,” explains Harvey. This benefit is available in policies provided by HCC Medical Insurance Services, IMG, MH Ross, Seven Corners, Travel Guard, Travel Insured and Travel Safe.</p>

<p>Travelers overseas may also be able to find coverage under the Travel Delay and Missed Connection benefits. Travel Delay will reimburse the cost of lodging, food and local transportation during the delay, while Missed Connection will reimburse the cost of catching up to the trip if the delay causes a missed departure. </p>
